PANELS Starting point is a saddle with the right fit for the horse it was bought for, or with a view to future growth. In this case the front of the panel will –temporarily- need some extra foam, as in case of a horse with atrophied wither muscles. Very often this extra sheet of foam can be removed after approximately six weeks, when muscle tissue has recovered. Hollowbacked horses may need and extra part in the middle of the panel. Due to the optimal bearing surface and release of pressure points, it might happen that the well ridden horse develops stronger abdominal muscles which effects the topline in a positive way. Considering a horse in obese condition, gaining fat around shoulders and withers, it might be necessary to shim the back of the panel temporarily to level, if the saddle is tipping back.
